Stuffed animal sleepovers are evening storytimes where children ages 3-6 can leave a stuffie to participate in an exclusive sleepover party at the library! After the sleepover, pictures and a story from the stuffed animals' adventures will be posted to this page. Please note that these are not sleepovers for kids/families. They are a chance for stuffed animals to make new stuffed animal friends and have a little party of their own. To see upcoming Stuffie Sleepover events visit our Storytime Page.
Please note sleepover stories and pictures will remain on this page until the next sleepover event.
The Stuffed Animal Sleepover started off with a special evening storytime. Children read bedtime stories and sang songs with Miss Kami, the children's librarian.
When storytime was over, children tucked in their stuffies and said goodnight (with reassuring promises that they would pick them up in just a few days).
However, the stuffed animals did not stay tucked in for long. They quickly snuck down the hall and conducted their very own board meeting. Topics of discussion included adding more animal books to the collection, constructing secret tunnels under the library, and converting all the staircases to slides.
After board meeting was adjourned, the stuffies were still not tired so they decided to take a trip on the elevator and explore the library.
Their first stop was the staircase leading upstairs to the nonfiction section of the library. The stuffies climbed, jumped, and whizzed down the banisters for several hours.
When they finally needed a break, they made their way to the animal section where they read books about some of their predecessors including reptiles, wolves, and various cat species!
Next, they ventured downstairs to the children's section where they played with magnatiles, dinosaurs, puzzles, and read all kinds of books.
After they cleaned up all the toys they headed to the "New" shelf to read all of the newly added picture books.
They finally started feeling sleepy, but decided they would try to get at least a little bit of work done for the librarians. They headed to the bookdrop and checked in all of the books before heading back downstairs to go to sleep.
The next morning after the stuffies woke up, Quimby surprised them all with their very own storytime. They read stories, sang songs with the guitar, and even danced around with egg shakers.
The stuffies took turns sharing the books and getting closer looks at alll the pictures.
After Quimby finished storytime, the stuffies played with the ball pit and tunnels. They ran, squealed, and giggled as much as they wanted since the library wasn't yet open!
Finally it was time for the sleepover to end. The stuffed animals took a final picture together and then were packed upstairs to wait for their children.
Quimby had the best time and hopes all of the stuffie guests enjoyed sleeping over at the library with her. She can't wait to host another one soon!
